Hello! How are we all doing? I hope the new year is treating you well—it’s felt particularly grey and oppressive for me this time around. Still, we’re in February now and the crocuses have broken through the bleak in great number, their purple and whites so bright against an expanse of sodden grass and mud. Spring will be here soon, keep the faith ✨
Koriko
I’ve been busy, too, in this sunless era! Koriko continues to tick along, and apart from the occasional wobble where I question all of my life choices (I’m still not entirely sure what a ‘bill of lading’ is or how to prepare one), things are progressing smoothly. Currently I’m working on a bundle of stretch goal content for the game, and a website that will teach you how to play. Lots to get on with!
Counterpart
I’ve also been working on my new game, Counterpart. It’s a Lost & Found game, similar to Artefact and Bucket of Bolts, which focuses on the experience of an AI companion robot and the people they spend time with. It’s proving to be a great fit for the format, or at least I think so—and now you can tell me what you think too!
Yep, the playtest version of the game is available now. You can play it digitally on Screentop now. The feedback form is here, I’d love to know what you think.
You might also want to join our discord for the full experience, including channels to post play reports, ask questions and report errors.
Stock
A few of you have asked about when physical copies of my games will be available for retail purchase. It’s hard for me to give an exact answer, but my hope is that Koriko, Orbital and The Slow Knife will be widely available by the summer, and Artefact & Bucket will be ready before the end of the year. When they’re eventually available, you’ll hear it here first.
Friends at the Table X The Slow Knife
Another fun thing that happened this month—Friends at the Table started playing The Slow Knife! Their play-through of Orbital last year was a huge creative achievement for me, so I’m really honoured that they’ve decided to try another one of my games. It’s currently a Patreon-only episode, but I can’t think of a better way to spend a few bucks if you have cash to spare.
That’s it! Cheers for now,
Jack
As a backer of Koriko this is great news :) Yet, due to sudden and a flamey disagreement with my landlord I had to move. How May I update my address?
